US media asks: How did Crooks manage to break through strict measures on Trump despite the “Iran conspiracy”?

CNN and other media outlets said that US authorities had received information from a “human source” regarding a plot by Tehran once morest the former president, prompting the Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting senior US political figures, to raise the level of protection measures imposed on Trump several weeks ago.

The release of this information comes at a time when the Secret Service is facing severe criticism and questions, particularly regarding how the shooter was able to get so close to the former president.

President Joe Biden has called for an independent investigation into the assassination attempt, which Trump survived but killed a firefighter attending the Republican candidate’s campaign rally.

Commenting on what was reported by the American press regarding the Iranian plan to assassinate the former president, the US National Security Council said that it had been following “Iran’s threats once morest the previous administration of Donald Trump for years.”

“We consider this a matter of the utmost national and homeland security,” National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement.

She added that the investigation into the assassination attempt targeting Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania “did not identify any links between the shooter and potential accomplices or conspirators, foreign or domestic.”

Asked regarding “additional measures taken in recent weeks” to enhance protection for the former president, the spokeswoman said that the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security were authorized to answer that question.

For his part, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that the service and other security agencies “continue to receive information regarding potential threats and take steps to adapt resources as necessary.”

“We cannot comment on the additional measures taken in recent weeks” to enhance the former president’s protection, the spokeswoman said. The Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security are authorized to respond to this question, the spokeswoman said. A spokesman for J. said he would not comment on any threats other than to say that the Secret Service takes them seriously and responds accordingly.

In contrast, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said on Tuesday evening that accusing Tehran of a plot once morest former US President Donald Trump was a malicious idea that was devoid of truth.

Trump was the target of an assassination attempt while speaking at an election rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. A video clip documented the moment Trump was shot, shortly following he took the stage, as the Secret Service escorted him away with blood pouring from the side of his face, following he was shot in the “upper part of his right ear.”

Pennsylvania police said one person was killed in the incident and two others were seriously injured.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was killed at the scene by Secret Service agents. US media said Thomas Crooks had no criminal past and authorities have yet to determine a motive for his attempted assassination of Trump.

Multiple federal agencies are currently investigating the shooting as an attempted assassination.
