US announces sanctions once morest Iran to mark 1st anniversary of mysterious hijab death

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the State Department announced sanctions once morest Iran on this day.
Those subject to sanctions include key personnel of the Iranian regime’s security forces, such as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), those in charge of Iranian prisons, and people and companies involved in systematic Internet censorship. Additionally, three media companies controlled by the Iranian regime, including Press TV, were also included in the sanctions.
Brian Nelson, Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, said, “As we approach one year since the tragic and senseless death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of Iran’s anti-corruption police, the United States stands with its allies and partners, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. “We will continue to take collective action once morest those who oppress Iranians exercising their human rights,” he said.
Previously, in September last year, Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman, died mysteriously in Iran following being arrested by the police for not wearing the hijab properly.
This event sparked anti-government protests in Iran, and the Iranian regime responded with violence, mass imprisonment, and internet shutdowns, the Treasury Department said.
