The US National Security Council affirmed that “Washington will respond to Iranian aggression against allies in the Middle East,” the day after the Pentagon announced that the US forces had thwarted two attempts by the Iranian Navy on Wednesday to seize two commercial oil tankers in international waters off the coast of Oman, noting that in one of these attempts it was fired. The Iranians shot the tanker.

The US Central Command, “Centcom”, said in a statement, “The Iranians tried to seize the tanker TRF Moss, which flies the flag of the Marshall Islands, and three hours later, they tried to seize the tanker Richmond Voyager, which flies the flag of the Bahamas.”

She added that the Iranian navy personnel fled the scene in both cases as soon as they saw an American destroyer close to them. He explained that at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, local time, an Iranian warship approached the tanker “TRF Moss” in the Gulf of Oman.

“The Iranian ship left the scene when it arrived at the USS McFaul guided-missile destroyer,” the statement said.

About three hours later, the US Navy received a distress call from the Richmond Voyager, which was more than 32 km off the coast of Muscat, according to the statement.

Another Iranian navy ship was close to the oil tanker and told it to stop.
