LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) — The United States has recorded at least 2.6 million infected people, 26,000 hospitalizations, and 1,600 deaths from flu since the start of this season, according to the latest estimates as of December 11. The country’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Seasonal flu activity continued to increase in most parts of the country, with the Southeast and South-Central regions seeing the highest activity levels, the CDC’s weekly bulletin said.
The weekly number of flu-related hospitalizations continued to increase.
Four influenza-associated pediatric deaths were recorded during the week ending Dec. 2, bringing the total for the 2023-2024 season to 12 pediatric deaths, according to the CDC.
The CDC recommends that everyone aged 6 months and older receive one dose of the flu vaccine per year. END
