American fighter jets have intercepted four Russian planes near Alaska for the second time this week, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) announced on Tuesday.

This “routine” interception of Russian aircraft, including models of the Tu-95 heavy bomber and the Su-30 and Su-35 fighter, took place on Tuesday, Norad said in a statement.
This is an operation consisting of escorting a potentially rival aircraft deemed too close to an airspace, or having entered it.
“The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace,” he added.
An interception operation had already been carried out on Monday concerning, already, four Russian planes near Alaska.
Tuesday’s operation has no connection with those having led, in the days preceding, to the American shootings having shot down three unidentified flying objects.
