Authorities at the U.S. Embassy in Cuba (Havana) posted a message on social media about an “important document” that must not be missing when making an appointment to obtain a visa at that diplomatic headquarters.
Nearly 100,000 Cubans have arrived in the United States safely and in an orderly manner over the past year, according to a recent report by the Customs and Border Protection Service (CBP). This figure represents significant progress in the response to the migration crisis on the Caribbean island, but it is not enough, given the interest of Cuban relatives to reunite with their loved ones in the United States.
The humanitarian parole program implemented by the Biden Administration in 2023 has been instrumental in unifying families, as this initiative offers Cubans a legal and safe process to emigrate to the United States. But others are still waiting for family reunification visas that are currently being processed at the U.S. Embassy.
Because of this, the diplomatic headquarters continues to use Pánfilo and his friends from “Vivir del Cuento” to guide potential Cuban migrants regarding their visa appointments to that country. The US Embassy in Havana has acknowledged the large number of pending applications and has assured that it is working “as quickly as possible” to process them. That is why it maintains these updates on its social networks to guide potential beneficiaries.

“Many people forget to bring their criminal records from Cuba. Remember that you must bring the criminal record certified by the Ministry of Justice and must be valid.“, they noted.
“If you have lived in another country for a year or more, you must bring the original criminal record from that country. In many cases, you can request it from the embassy of the country where you lived,” they added.
