US Draws a Red Line: Refuses to Arm Ukraine with Lethal Long-Range Missiles to Target Russia

The Pentagon spokeswoman said in a special press conference about the situation in Ukraine: “We have not changed our position on that,” explaining that the United States will see a threat of escalation of the Ukrainian conflict if it reconsiders its policy on this issue.

Last September, Washington announced that it did not intend to announce any new policy regarding Ukraine and its use of long-range missiles, and White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said: “There are no changes in our vision regarding providing Ukraine with long-range offensive capabilities for use within Russia.” .

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed last Monday that talk about Ukrainian forces bombing deep into Russian territory with Western weapons is playing with fire and could result in dangerous consequences.

It is noteworthy that no decision was taken regarding the use of American weapons to launch strikes deep into Russia, during the meeting between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev on September 11.

According to an ABC News source, during the lengthy meeting, Zelensky gave the US secretary a “detailed plan” on how Kiev would use Western weapons to strike Russian territory and provided a list of potential targets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that NATO countries are now not only discussing the possibility of Kiev using long-range Western weapons, but in fact, they are deciding whether to participate directly in the Ukrainian conflict.

He added that the direct participation of Western countries in the Ukrainian conflict will change its essence, and Russia will be forced to make decisions based on the threats it faces in this way.
