US condemns North Korean missiles shortly after the arrival of Harris… Strong Comprehensive Commitment to Defense of Korea

State Department: “Multiple UN Security Council Resolutions Violation… Maintaining Diplomatic Approach”

The United States reaffirmed its security promise to South Korea, condemning North Korea’s launch of another ballistic missile shortly following Vice President Kamala Harris left South Korea on the 29th (local time).

“The United States condemns North Korea’s missile launches,” State Department chief deputy spokeswoman Vedant Patel said at a telephone briefing.

Still, he reaffirmed that “[the US government]will maintain a diplomatic approach to North Korea and urge North Korea to engage in dialogue,” he said.

“We are aware of the launch of two ballistic missiles and are in close consultation with our allies and partners,” the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said in a statement on the North Korean missile launch.

“While we assess that this launch does not pose a direct threat to the American people, territory or allies, it underscores that North Korea’s illegal weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile programs destabilize the situation,” the command said. he mentioned

The US Department of Defense also shared the command’s statement in response to a written inquiry by Yonhap News regarding its position on North Korea’s missile launch.

The US government has maintained a similar stance on North Korea’s various missile provocations.

This reaction is also very similar to the previous one.

Earlier, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) from the Suncheon area in South Pyongan Province to the East Sea from 8:48 pm to 8:57 pm on the 29th, South Korea time.

This is a follow-up to the 25th and 28th, which means that missiles were fired three times in five days.

In particular, there is an interpretation that the missile was launched just before the visit of Vice President Harris to South Korea and immediately following the departure, aimed at Vice President Harris’ visit to Korea and the South Korea-U.S. joint exercise.

South Korea and the United States recently conducted joint exercises in the East Sea, and the US carrier Ronald Reagan, who participated in the exercise, is still in Korea.

After preventing President Yoon Seok-yeol during his visit to Korea, Vice President Harris showed off the strength of the ROK-U.S. alliance by visiting the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), calling North Korea a ‘vicious dictatorship’, and discussing the promise of extended deterrence.
