Satellite images showed a pier under construction on the shores of the southern coast of Gaza City, according to coordinates published by Maxar Technology.
Maxar published photos that it said dated back to March 11, 12, and 13, showing excavation and construction work directly on the beach sand.
In his State of the Union address on March 8, US President Joe Biden announced that he had instructed the army to establish a temporary port near the coast of Gaza.
He added that more humanitarian aid will enter Gaza by sea through the port, without American soldiers setting foot in the Strip.

The US Army then announced that a number of its ships were heading to Gaza to establish a temporary port that would allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, which is besieged by Israel.
As a result of the war and the Israeli campaign, the residents of Gaza in the north and south are on the verge of famine, in light of a severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies. About 30 Palestinians were martyred due to malnutrition, according to estimates by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched an aggression once morest the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian casualties, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure.
