[Washington / Seoul, 12th Archyde.com]–A US government official said that the US Navy had placed a carrier strike group centered on “Abraham Lincoln” in the waters near the Korean Peninsula in the Sea of Japan. South Korean media reported that they were dispatched due to tensions over North Korea’s missile launch test.

According to US officials, he entered the Sea of Japan to conduct exercises with the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. The aim is to give a sense of security to local allies and partner countries. There is growing concern within the US government that North Korea may soon conduct an underground nuclear test.

The US aircraft carrier group has been dispatched to the waters of Japan and South Korea since 2017.

South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that Abraham Lincoln will be active in the area for 3-5 days.
