Brazilians are increasingly adept at online shopping. A sign of this is that Brazil had the highest growth in e-commerce in 2022 compared to other Latin American countries, according to researcher Retail X. Despite this strong consumption habit, cases of purchase abandonment are frequent: data from research Cart Abandonment, by Opinion Box, show that in Brazil, 83% of carts are abandoned without consumers completing the purchase. One of the main reasons is the process of constant redirects.
It was with these cases in mind that dLocal Go, a Uruguayan company that develops financial technology for international payments, launched the transparent checkout solution in Brazil. The novelty is the result of a partnership with the online commerce platform Shopify.
Transparent checkout is a solution that allows the entire payment process to take place within the store’s e-commerce environment, without the user being redirected to another website, tab or pop-up to complete the purchase. The solution even makes all data transmission between the virtual store and the payment provider happen behind the scenes, and the user sees the transaction being processed within the store’s own website.
“The habit of directing the consumer to another payment window is the cause of this abandonment, especially when talking regarding the Brazilian consumer, who still has a conservative profile due to fraud in online purchases. The transparent checkout improves the shopping experience, reduces cart abandonment and increases the conversion rate”, points out Dolores Alonso, Head of Growth at dLocal Go.
The implementation of the transparent checkout developed by dLocal Go with Shopify makes sales more direct and fluid and increases conversions in purchases made. The new functionality can be installed easily and will be available to all online stores in Brazil that carry out local transactions.
dLocal Go’s transparent checkout with Shopify is now available in the country and allows for the most used payment methods in the country: Pix, bank slip, credit and debit cards.
Newly arrived in Brazil, dLocal Go already operates in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Guatemala, Indonesia and Malaysia. The alliance between the payment operator and Shopify in Brazil was created to boost online store sales, with the aim of transforming the customer’s shopping experience.
“Our partnership with dLocal Go is another strong step we take within the Brazilian e-commerce market. Performing 100% of the shopping experience at the Shopify checkout, without migrating between storefronts, provides more comfort and security for local consumers. On the Shopify side, we are excited and satisfied with this initiative and partnership that adds high value to our Brazilian merchants”, says Edouard Hieaux, Latam Technical Partner Manager at Shopify.
