The match began with the team led by Marcelo Bielsa taking the initiative and seeking to reach the goal, but with few ideas when it came to violating the solid defensive structure proposed by the Inca team. A deflected attempt by Homenchenko and a weak shot by Tiago Palacios was the highlight of the initial stretch of the match for the Charrúas, who only managed to turn the balance in their favor at the close of the first half. When 44 minutes had passed, Burlamaque knocked down Valentín Rodríguez in the area and the referee sanctioned the penalty that Luciano Rodríguez converted into a goal for the 1-0.
Just two minutes later it was 2-0 following a corner kick in which Santiago Homenchenko scored following a false start by Romero to widen the gap before going to half-time.

At the start of the second half, Uruguay struck once more when, following a cross from Juan Cruz De Los Santos that crossed the entire area, Matías Abaldo appeared to take the ball on the right sector, put in a low and backward cross that found Renzo Sánchez, who finished first to cross the shot and make it 3 to 0.
From there, Uruguay managed the game once morest a beaten rival, and towards the end of the match, the Celestes generated several more chances that might have further widened the differences on the scoreboard.
Bielsa’s Celeste added three for the first time in the tournament and will now have to wait for the result between Argentina and Chile to know if they are still alive in the Pre-Olympic, while Peru was definitively left with no chance of advancing to the final round.
