Ski racer Urs Kryenbühl has had a season to forget. Privately, on the other hand, things are going very well for the Swiss.

Bern – Urs Kryenbühl was really unlucky in the past World Cup season. In an almost fall at the Super-G in Bormio, the Swiss tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and had to end his season before the turn of the year. For the 29-year-old it is not the first serious injury in his career.

Urs Kryenbühl: Swiss ski racer with bad luck in the World Cup

In the winter of 2021, he retired at a bad fall on the legendary Streif in Kitzbühel suffered a cruciate ligament and medial ligament tear in his right knee as well as a broken collarbone and a concussion.

A year later, in January 2022, he competed in the European Cup Super G in Saalbach-Hinterglemm and suffered a painful pelvic injury. He fought back, but had to temporarily end the season in February with a cruciate ligament injury.

Urs Kryenbühl has had a real run of bad luck on the slopes in recent years. The speed specialist from Switzerland, who has had three podium finishes in his career so far, is one of the most frequently injured ski racers in recent seasons. But things are going really well for the 29-year-old privately at the moment. Apparently, the saying “unlucky in the game, lucky in love” applies to Kryenbühl.

Woman reveals: Ski racer Urs Kryenbühl becomes a father for the first time

His wife Nadine published a photo on her Instagram account that shows her with a baby bump, like the online portal sportnews.bz reported. Underneath she writes “love in my stomach”. The Kryenbühl family is expecting their first child, which will certainly give the 29-year-old new impetus to fight his way back to the top of the world speed disciplines. However, the expectant mother does not reveal when the offspring is to be born.

Urs Kryenbühl, who competes in the alpine downhill, super-G and combined disciplines, made his World Cup debut in December 2014. The Swiss celebrated his greatest career success in the 2019/20 World Cup season. On December 27, 2019, he finished second in the Super-G on the Pista Stelvio in Bormio and was only beaten by winner Dominik Paris. In the overall World Cup, a 44th place in the 2020/21 season is the best result. (smr)
