Urology Residency Program at University of Puerto Rico: Achieving Top Scores and Comprehensive Training in Urological Medicine

The 2022-2023 class of the Urology Residency Program passed the training requirements with the highest score.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Puerto Rico congratulated the class Residence in Urology 2022-2023 for obtaining 100% on Board Certified. This program has five years of complete training in urological medicine.

The program of Residence in Urology focuses on exposing resident physicians to a wide range of clinical and academic aspects of the field of urology.

Resident physicians acquire essential skills in the diagnosis and treatment of various urological conditions. For this, your training includes:

Diagnostic evaluation: Residents actively participate in the diagnostic evaluation of urological patients, learning to identify and understand the complexities of each case.

Pre and Post Operative Care: They gain experience in caring for patients before and following urological surgical procedures.

Management of Hospitalized Patients: They participate in the diagnosis and treatment of hospitalized patients with various urological conditions.

Experience in the Operating Room: Residents have the opportunity to assist and perform surgical procedures, including major and minor operations, as well as laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures.

General Urology Clinics: Three times a week, residents participate in health clinics urology general, where they face a wide variety of urological conditions and are enriched by diverse clinical experience.

Additionally, the program offers residents the opportunity to complete rotations at affiliated institutions, providing a broad and valuable perspective on the urology.

Rotations include: Urology General for Adults at the University District Hospital, San Juan Veterans Administration Medical Center, UPR Hospital in Carolina, HIMA San Pablo and Bayamon Medical Center. Urology Pediatric at the University District Pediatric Hospital and the HIMA San Pablo in Caguas.

The program of Residence in Urology of the University of Puerto Rico is committed to training competent and highly trained resident physicians in the field of urology.
