Urgent | The rise in dollar prices against the pound before the Central Bank meeting

The exchange rates of the dollar rose once morest the Egyptian pound by 8 piasters, buying and selling, during its midday dealings, Thursday, the end of weekly trading, in Egyptian banks.

Last month, the exchange rate of the dollar witnessed a significant movement once morest the Egyptian pound, with a value ranging between 5.37 pounds – 5.50 pounds, buying and selling.

And in the two largest local banks in terms of assets and transactions, the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr, the exchange rate recorded today 30.13 pounds for purchase, and 30.23 pounds for sale, and in the Suez Canal Bank, it recorded 30.15 pounds for purchase, and 30.25 pounds for sale.

In private banks, the dollar exchange rate in the Commercial International Bank recorded 30.23 pounds for purchase, and 30.33 pounds for sale, and in Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, it recorded 30.23 pounds for purchase, and 30.33 pounds for sale.

In the Central Bank, the average price of the dollar once morest the Egyptian pound recorded 30.13 pounds for purchase, and 30.23 pounds for sale.

Central bank meeting date

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Egypt is scheduled to hold its first meeting this year 2023, today, Thursday, to discuss the fate of the interest rate.

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank decided, in its last meeting on December 22, to raise the interest rate by 3% to reach 16.25% and 17.25% on deposit and lending returns.
