Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, held his weekly meeting, yesterday, Monday, to follow up the progress of work, and discuss a number of important topics, including the medical insurance plan for the Eid al-Adha celebrations, and follow-up on the work of the medical Hajj mission, in addition to implementing Health and preventive measures to confront summer diseases, within the framework of preserving the public health of citizens.

The meeting was attended by the minister’s assistants, heads of bodies and all undersecretaries of the ministry in the governorates, as well as participation through the “video conference” technology, in the context of discussing mechanisms for providing the best medical and ambulance services to citizens, facing challenges and working to overcome any obstacles facing the workflow in the health sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister was reassured regarding the health status of the pilgrims by communicating with Dr. Amr Kandil, head of the preventive medicine sector and head of the medical mission for Hajj, through the “video conference” technology, and he made sure that the pilgrims received all aspects of health care, recommending the need to provide health awareness to Egyptian pilgrims to avoid Infectious diseases, where 11 mobile clinics were provided in the city of Makkah, and 3 clinics in Madinah.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the minister stressed the continuation of the “knock on doors” campaign to vaccinate citizens once morest the Corona virus in the governorates (Cairo, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qalyubia, Dakahlia), while raising awareness levels among citizens and emphasizing adherence to preventive and precautionary measures, noting To organize vaccination campaigns with the anti-Coronavirus vaccine for vacationers in tourist places, and to continue vaccinating citizens who have passed their previous dose for 6 months.

In a related context, he confirmed that the Minister stressed the intensification of the presence of ambulances equipped on coastal and desert roads, to provide ambulance services on the roads until before transfer to the nearest hospital, noting that the Minister was briefed on the medical insurance plan for first aid services that can be provided during the days of Eid and the separation of In the summer, 287 ambulances will be deployed on highways and desert roads, and 9 ambulances will be stationed under new bridges leading to coastal roads, with an emphasis on periodic maintenance of medical and mechanical equipment for ambulances.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister directed to increase the manpower of paramedics, while continuing their training to raise their efficiency and provide the best medical services, noting the coordination between the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, central and general hospitals, and the Crisis and Emergency Management Chamber in all health affairs directorates in all governorates to provide rapid medical support, And work to overcome any obstacles in case of crises, in addition to directing the preparation of a detailed periodic report every two hours, including the number of cases that entered hospitals, and reporting their health condition.

He continued, that the minister directed the need to raise the state of readiness among all hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals during the Eid periods, with coordination to achieve integration between the two sides and fill the shortage between manpower in some medical specialties, pointing to the minister’s keenness to ensure the availability of a strategic stock. Of medicines, medical supplies, grafts and serums, and the availability of blood bags of all types and its derivatives in the regional centers for blood transfusion in all governorates.

Abdel Ghaffar said that during the meeting, the minister listened to a detailed explanation of a proposal for an initiative to support natural birth and reduce caesarean section rates, through training doctors and nursing staff, and spreading health awareness among married and prospective women, in order to preserve the health of the mother and child.
