A doctor from the Doctors Without Borders group said, in an interview with the American CNN network, that the situation is catastrophic in Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the interruption of communications and the depletion of medical supplies and fuel.

Dr. Tania Al-Hajj Hassan, a pediatric intensive care physician with Doctors Without Borders, told the American network, “They have not been able to contact anyone inside Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip for two days,” adding, “The last thing they heard from them was that the situation was horrific. This was before the actual invasion of the hospital, which is under complete siege and surrounded by Israeli tanks.”

The doctor confirmed that the medical staff at Al-Shifa Hospital are unable to move inside the health care departments due to the Israeli army deliberately sniping and targeting everything inside the medical complex through the windows.

The doctor said that two nurses were killed following being hit by direct Israeli bullets fired through one of the hospital windows, in addition to wounding others.

Regarding the running out of fuel, food and medicine, the doctor said: “People there are screaming from thirst and hunger, as they have no access to clean drinking water.”

As for intensive care patients and kidney patients, including adults, children, and premature infants, others suffer, and a number of them died following oxygen was cut off from artificial respirators, and dialysis machines stopped, due to the lack of fuel and the power outage.

The doctor told of nurses and doctors inside the besieged hospital that they had long been begging the international community to help them evacuate and evacuate patients in these horrific times, in addition to their desire and commitment to remain there to protect and help those in need.
