“Lebanese Debate”
The Hospitals Syndicate began to issue warning signs regarding the continued suspension of collection of its dues from the Ministry of Health, which constitutes a heavy burden on it and threatens its continuity in providing care services to dialysis patients.
The syndicate warned that this stoppage would affect its ability to secure the necessary medicines and medical supplies for the patients of this vital sector of society.
In this context, the head of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals, Suleiman Haroun, confirmed that “hospitals have not received their dues from the Ministry of Health since September 2022,” revealing that “the ministry has transferred dues to the Ministry of Finance, but it has not yet paid the amounts due, which means that the problem is in Ministry of Finance”.
He pointed out that “contacts are continuing with the Ministry of Finance to solve this chronic problem, explaining that if hospitals are unable to receive their dues, they will not be able to purchase the necessary medical supplies and medicines, which endangers the lives of patients.”
In this context, the doctors also expressed their dissatisfaction with the failure to collect their financial dues, and Haroun stressed that the voice of protest began to escalate increasingly among the medical work teams, who are facing difficulties in continuing to provide medical services fully in light of this situation.
The Hospitals Syndicate is looking forward to a quick solution to this crisis, and Haroun hopes that “the finances will respond quickly to improve the situation and ensure the continuity of providing vital medical services to dialysis patients, who depend heavily on these services to maintain their health and life.”
