The municipality of Al-Kafour indicated, in a statement, that “the problem of the tire recycling plant in the outskirts of the town of Al-Kafour has reached a limit that can no longer be tolerated, to the popular movement yesterday, during which the Al-Khansa plant was closed under pressure from the people, especially since these factories have become an actual threat to public safety because they are not They adhere to the minimum environmental and health conditions, and use the late hours of the night to light tires and other materials in the open air outside the designated campus.”

The municipality pointed out, “This is what leads to the spread of materials resulting from the burning process (al-Shahtar), which travels quickly and easily in the air to reach homes, fruit orchards, cars, streets, and every spot that polluted air reaches in the town of Al-Kafour, Toul, and neighboring villages.” “.

And she emphasized that “the health and safety of our people is above all considerations, especially following the environmental expert’s report, which we commissioned to conduct an environmental study on the tire-burning factory, and who stated in his final report that the environmental effects of the factory are very harmful as a result of the emissions resulting from it, so we sued the factory and its owner before the Environmental Public Prosecution And the judge of urgent matters in Nabatiyeh, issuing a judicial decision to suspend the factory from work, and to fine him one hundred million Lebanese pounds (100 million Lebanese pounds) for each violation he commits, until the environmental judge finishes studying the complaint and takes the appropriate decision in this regard.

And she added, “We commend the rightful move taken by the people of Al-Kafour to express their discontent and rejection of this bitter reality, and we thank the judges in Nabatiyeh who reached a decision to stop work in the laboratory subject of the complaint, and we thank the security services that showed all cooperation with us, and the media that accompanied the move.” The people and conveyed their voice and pain, and we thank everyone who cooperated, facilitated and worked to remove this harm from our people, their health, and their livelihoods.
