Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Acting Minister of Health and Population, telephoned the abused doctor at New Cairo Hospital, to check on his health condition and follow up on the incident of the assault on him by a patient’s companion.
The Minister assigned his assistant for technical and governance affairs, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, and Dr. Mohamed Shawky, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Cairo, to go to New Cairo Hospital to follow up on the doctor’s health condition, and take all legal measures in the case of his infringement.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb confirmed that the injured doctor received the necessary medical care inside New Cairo Hospital.
He explained that his health condition is stable, and that the minister stressed that the Ministry of Health does not accept assault on medical staff or any abuse of any kind while doing their work to save the lives of patients, and all legal measures have been taken to ensure that the rights of medical staff are preserved, appealing to the Public Prosecution to quickly investigate the case.
