The artists ask the director to change the preventive measure
Artists and cultural figures appealed to the Commissioner for Human Rights under the President of Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, with a request to intervene in the case of director Evgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk and change their preventive measure.
On November 20, Berkovich’s grandmother, writer Nina Katerli, died.
“We ask you to help ensure that the preventive measure is changed for Svetlana Petriychuk and Zhenya Berkovich. At least so that she might bury her grandmother,” the letter says.
The petition was signed by 23 people, including Ivan Urgant, Yulia Peresild, Denis Sukhov, Danila Kozlovsky, Evgeny Mironov and many others.
The petition was signed by writers Guzel Yakhina and Lyudmila Ulitskaya, artistic director of Satyricon Konstantin Raiki and many others.
Earlier, the Moscow City Court extended the arrest of Berkovich and Petriychuk until January 10. They are accused of publicly calling for terrorist activities and publicly justifying terrorism.
