Urban Meyer has apparently ended his coaching career. The 58-year-old had most recently coached the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL and apparently had several inquiries from college football.
Meyer: “The book is closed”
Disaster 2021 season for the Jaguars
Third retirement of his coaching career
“The book is closed,” Meyer told the Ohio State University on the sidelines of a Coaches Clinic Columbus Dispatch. Instead of being on the sidelines, Meyer sees his future as an expert in front of the TV camera or as a grandfather. The fact that he made this statement on the sidelines of a coaching course seems a little ironic, because Meyer is still a sought-following coach in college football.
In 2021 he came to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL as a great hope and was supposed to develop the then rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The project failed not only in sport but also in human terms. In addition, Meyer made several escapades away from football, for example when he had close physical contact with a lady in a nightclub who was not his wife. After only 13 games, the commitment in Florida was over.

Meyer had previously made a name for himself in the NCAA. In 17 years as the head coach of the Bowling Green Falcons (2001-2002), Utah Utes (2003-2004), Florida Gators (2005-2010) and Ohio State Buckeyes (2011-2018), he had a 187-32 record and won the National Championship three times during this period. But Meyer had already ended his coaching career twice in 2010 and 2018 and then returned to football as a coach.
