  • An abandoned kitten was discovered in a waste container in Upper Valais.

  • The kitten was handed over to the Upper Valais Animal Welfare Association, where it was nursed back to health.

  • A home has already been found for the rescued fur ball.

Passers-by in a mountain village in Upper Valais discovered a kitten in a waste container that had been separated from its mother and disposed of carelessly, like him «Walliser Bote» reported. According to the Oberwallis animal protection association TSOW, the ball of fur was regarding a week old at the time. It was handed in there at the beginning of August.

“If kittens aren’t fed mother’s milk regularly at this age, they quickly become dehydrated and die within a few hours,” explains a TSOW worker. Another kitten found in the same village, which was apparently a sibling of the rescued cat, suffered the same fate: it might only be recovered dead.

Bambi is on the right track

In the past few weeks, Bambi has been nursed back to health: the employee bottle-fed the cat girl every two hours and massaged her tummy, as the cat mom usually does following suckling. Bambi is now over the mountain, but he would lack important antibodies that should have taken up with the mother’s milk. “An illness or an infection might still cost your life.”

If this worst case scenario does not occur, Bambi has a bright future ahead of him: the animal protection association has already found a family with older children, a cat and a dog, to which the cat will move as soon as it is old enough.
