The crash in the Melk district occurred at around 7 p.m. The 69-year-old from the Upper Austrian district of Wels-Land is believed to have skidded her vehicle on the B3. The reason is believed to be an aborted overtaking maneuver by a 31-year-old driver coming in the opposite direction. The Upper Austrian lost control of her vehicle. The car skidded off the road and overturned in an adjacent forest. The 69-year-old died on the spot.

17-year-old died

Shortly before 3:45 p.m., a 21-year-old Romanian drove off the B26 in St. Egyden am Steinfeld. The car was probably traveling at excessive speed. The 17-year-old passenger – also a Romanian citizen – was freed from the car by the fire department. Despite emergency medical treatment, he also succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car and another 17-year-old passenger were slightly injured.
