Upper Austrian league team Perg took its women’s team out of the rankings

The women’s Upper Austrian League also returned from the winter break at the weekend – albeit with one less team. The SPG Perg/Windhaag withdrew from the state’s highest league. The reason: Numerous team pillars such as Simone Raab (TSV Ottensheim), Linda Gschwandtner, Michaela Römer (both at the end of their careers) and Christina Engleder (Union Lembach) left the team in the winter that had already been at the bottom of the table in the fall season with just three points from nine games had problems.

The withdrawal also has consequences for the table: Because all of the Perger women’s results were annulled, the SV Windischgarsten team is now bottom of the league table. The goalscorers, however, will retain their goals – this will give the league’s second-best goalscorer Simone Raab, who moved to autumn runner-up Ottensheim, the chance to continue competing for the title of top scorer with her eleven goals.

Restart in summer?

The club itself was fined for its early exit from the championship.

If team manager Michaela Römer has her way, it is quite conceivable that the club will dare to restart in the summer. The players will continue to train weekly, also take part in indoor tournaments and friendly games and keep themselves as fit as possible for the next project: from autumn they want to get back into the championship game in the lowest women’s division.
