Following the rain that occurred on Thursday, “the teams had to suspend the ongoing marking operations on the East Ring of Brussels as part of its rehabilitation”, informs SOFICO. Operations that obviously require a dry support to be carried out. Marking will resume as soon as weather conditions permit.
“The Ring will be reopened to traffic this Friday for 6 a.m. but on a single lane, for security reasons. Certain ramps will also remain inaccessible“, adds SOFICO. The objective is still to completely free up the Ring for the start of the school year on Monday, August 28.
Started at the end of June, this project aims to rehabilitate and secure the Brussels Ring (R0) from Braine-l’Alleud to the Flemish Region, towards the capital. The total cost of the rehabilitation and security works is estimated at three million euros. Some 36,000 vehicles circulate each day in normal times on the portion of the ring concerned.
Note that the first weekend of complete ring closure had to be postponed by a week due to bad weather.
