In the latest developments in the case of forgery of Schengen visa applications, the Public Prosecution at the Court of Appeal in Tangier decided yesterday, Friday, to refer two persons involved in the case of forgery of official documents used in Schengen visa applications to the Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance for lack of jurisdiction.
The matter concerns a case of forgery of official documents and seals, where the main accused was arrested by the Tangier Judicial Police.
The main accused was brought before the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal after he was caught in possession of a number of forged passports and documents used in preparing visa application files. Another person was arrested, who submitted forged documents to the Spanish Consulate in Tangier in an attempt to obtain a visa.
The Public Prosecutor decided to refer the main accused to the Court of First Instance, followed by detention, where he was placed in pre-trial detention in the local prison in Tangiers, while the second person was followed up on release pending trial sessions.
The Spanish Consulate in Tangier had filed an official complaint with the Public Prosecution against ten people on charges of forging official documents to obtain a Schengen visa, a number that has since increased to more than twenty accused.
The complaint accuses defendants belonging to different neighborhoods of the city, including the “Bir al-Shifa” neighborhood, the “Bohut” neighborhood, the “Al-Baranas” neighborhood, and the Old City, and the complaint focuses on the involvement of these individuals in forging social security documents and bank documents that were used in their files to obtain On the visa.
