The Supreme Council of Universities approved, in its meeting today, Sunday, the adoption of a draft decision by the Prime Minister to amend Article (154) of the Universities Organization Law, and replace it with the following text: “The duration of study to obtain a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery is five years of study using the system of credit hours or points, followed by two years.” For compulsory training in work sites determined by the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.
The council also approved a proposal for a unified regulation for the year of compulsory training (internship) for pharmacists, which will be implemented for the first time, following the end of the next academic year 2023/2024.
The council also approved the restructuring of the teacher preparation program in the colleges of education in light of the tendency to increase the period of field training in basic education schools. To provide students with the skills they need to meet the needs of the labor market.
