Update on the tuberculosis outbreak in Naujaat

The Ministry of Health informs the population that the tuberculosis outbreak declared in Naujaat on May 16, 2023 continues.

Since January 2023, active tuberculosis has been diagnosed in 14 people in this locality, and latent tuberculosis infection has been detected in 63 others.

If you have been around someone with active tuberculosis or have symptoms of tuberculosis, you should go to the health center for a screening test.

Active tuberculosis can be recognized by the following symptoms:

Cough that persists for more than three weeks; Feeling very tired; Loss of appetite; Fever or night sweats.

Anyone who presents these symptoms should immediately go to the health center for testing. Tuberculosis is a disease that can be treated with medicines available in your locality. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your health center.

Latent tuberculosis infection is not contagious, but it is treated so that it does not become active. The Ministry of Health will continue to support and provide resources to ensure adequate access to tuberculosis testing, information, treatment and support.
