Update on the victims of the Israeli raids on Lebanon: 492 dead and more than 1,645 wounded

This is the highest death toll in a single day since the start of the confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel on October 8, 2023.

Since Monday morning, Israeli forces have been launching waves of raids that have covered all the villages and towns of southern Lebanon, reaching deep into the south in Nabatieh and Tyre, and in the western and northern Bekaa regions. The raids also extended to the Byblos region in northern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health asked all hospitals in the southern governorates, Nabatieh, and Baalbek-Hermel to stop “cold operations” to treat the wounded, to make room for treating those wounded in the Israeli raids.

For its part, the Ministry of Education announced the suspension of studies in many areas, depending on the development of the security situation.

The Israeli army announced this morning that it had thwarted a cruise missile launch from a house in southern Lebanon, warning the residents of southern Lebanon to stay away from any building used by Hezbollah and its members, stressing that “anyone who is near Hezbollah members or its weapons exposes himself to danger.”

Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Monday that the continued Israeli aggression on Lebanon is a war of extermination and a plan aimed at destroying villages and towns in Lebanon.

While Mikati called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and influential countries to stand with the truth and deter aggression, he renewed Lebanon’s commitment to Resolution 1701 and to work to stop the war in order to avoid “falling into the unknown.”
