The Ministry of Health of the Penza Region commented on the situation with the rise in incidence in the region.
“Despite the fact that no cases of influenza have been detected, we nevertheless have an increase in pneumonia, ARVI, we also have meningococcal infections, and many other infections that require observation in a hospital setting,” Deputy Minister Marina Vorobyova stated at a briefing on Thursday. November 23.
According to her, it was precisely because of this that the regional center for special types of medical care (KIM) decided not to connect when a measles outbreak was identified in the Bessonovsky district – there are already many patients with viral diseases there.
As for the coronavirus, the strain currently circulating is the same – omicron, characterized by a generally mild course of the disease. But there are also exceptions.
“Now, both throughout Russia and here, the number of hospitalized patients is increasing, especially elderly people who are admitted with complications, pneumonia, including Covid.
Currently, regarding 80% of patients remain in outpatient treatment. Of course, there is an increase – by 20% compared to last week. The same dynamics are observed throughout the country, but the incidence in the Penza region is not higher than the Russian average,” noted Marina Vorobyova, adding that over the past week in Russia the number of deaths from coronavirus has increased 9 times.
She added that following December 10, the region may receive a Covid vaccine for groups of people who need to be vaccinated.
The introduction of restrictive measures at this stage, according to the official, is not required.
