For the time being, the situation remains under control in France. Since May 1, the start date of national epidemic surveillance (which ends in November), no indigenous transmission has been recorded. by Public Health France.

On the other hand, 154 cases of dengue have been confirmed, all imported. For the majority, they were diagnosed in Île-de-France (61 cases), followed by New Aquitaine, Auvergne Rhône Alpes and Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, with between 16 and 24 patients. Half of these patients came from Martinique or Guadeloupe (75 cases). Note that five cases of Chikungunya were also noted. They were all imported from Africa.

The tiger mosquito settles

But what worries is this summer period in France, because the tiger mosquito proliferates more, and the latter is now established in 72 of the 96 French departments, or 75% of the territory. This concerns the entire southern half up to the Paris region, as well as Haut-Rhin, Bas-Rhin, Mayenne and Ille-et-Vilaine.

In 2022, 66 indigenous contaminations had been recorded across the Atlantic, including 52 in the PACA region. This therefore now confirms the risk of the emergence of epidemic outbreaks at the national level.
