The Aguas de La Habana Company has reported on the work to recover the water supply in several areas of the Cuban capital, after electrical problems that affected its supply sources. Although the system began to be reactivated, difficulties still persist in some areas.
The Paso Seco supply was energized yesterday afternoon, although it still faces breakdowns in its electrical infrastructure.
The Electric Company works to solve these failures as soon as possible. Priority measures have been implemented to ensure the supply of water through tank cars to hospitals, evacuation centers, transit communities and other essential services.
Gradual restoration of service in several areas
Throughout the day, several water sources have partially or completely restored pumping, while others have experienced interruptions. Below is a summary of the restored services:
Dry Step: Three pumping units were activated, although one remains out of service due to wiring problems and another due to a phase drop.
Parrot 4 and 5: As of 12:00 pm, pumping was restored for the Lotería, Alberro, Magdalena Torriente and the center of Cotorro distributions.
Benigno: Since 12:20 pm, this fountain supplies several areas of San Miguel del Padrón, including Alturas de San Miguel, Las Granjas and Monterrey.
San Francisco 2, 2A and Cotorro 1: As of 12:00 pm, service was restored in Cotorro, benefiting San Pedro, Las Granjas and other central areas.
October 8: Since 12:30 pm, this fountain provides water to the homonymous community in Cotorro.
Lettuce: At 1:20 pm, service was resumed in the Lechuga neighborhood, in Arroyo Naranjo, using a generator set.
The Oak: From 2:40 pm, the Las Cañas, García and Cuervo distributions in Boyeros are supplied, also by means of a generator.
Palatine Impeller: At 3:30 pm, pumping began towards the Canal, which supplies the Cerro municipality and part of 10 de Octubre.
Affectations persist in some areas
However, some sectors are still affected by interruptions due to the lack of electricity:
Saint Mary of the Rosary: Since 2:30 pm, the service is interrupted in the town of Santa María del Rosario and the Cruz Verde neighborhood, in Cotorro.
South Basin (Pedro Díaz Line): No service from 4:00 pm, affecting the Plaza municipality and parts of Cerro, 10 de Octubre and Habana Vieja.
Aguas de La Habana committed to keeping the population informed about the progress in the recovery of the service and continues to work together with the Electric Company to reestablish water distribution in the shortest possible time.

**Interview with Jorge Pérez, Spokesperson for the Aguas de La Habana Company**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us, Jorge. Can you explain the recent issues faced by Aguas de La Habana and updates on the restoration of water supply?
**Jorge Pérez:** Thank you for having me. Recently, we faced significant challenges due to electrical issues affecting our water supply sources. This disrupted the flow of water in several areas of Havana. However, I’m pleased to report that we have begun to reactivate our systems, although some difficulties still remain.
**Editor:** Which specific areas have seen improvements, and where are the most pressing issues currently?
**Jorge Pérez:** We’ve seen progress in several locations. For example, the Paso Seco supply was activated yesterday afternoon. We have restored pumping in areas such as Lotería, Alberro, and parts of Cotorro. However, we still face interruptions—especially in Paso Seco, where some electrical units are down due to ongoing infrastructure problems.
**Editor:** What measures are being put in place to support essential services during this time?
**Jorge Pérez:** We have implemented emergency measures to ensure essential services like hospitals and evacuation centers do not suffer. Water is being delivered through tank trucks to these critical facilities. Our team is working closely with the Electric Company to resolve electrical breakdowns as swiftly as possible.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, what is the expected timeline for full restoration of water services?
**Jorge Pérez:** While we are making progress, I can’t provide an exact timeline for full restoration due to the complexities involved. However, our priority is to ensure that all areas are back to normal as soon as we can. We appreciate the community’s patience as we resolve these issues.
**Editor:** Thank you, Jorge, for your insights. We hope for a swift recovery of services for the residents of Havana.
**Jorge Pérez:** Thank you! We’re committed to ensuring that our customers receive the reliable water service they deserve.
