Update: Driouech no longer feasible, PSV crushes record amount

Couhaib Driouech is one of the names on FC Twente’s list for next summer. Given that the rental period of Naci Ünüvar – the only real left winger in the selection – is coming to an end, the 21-year-old winger is a very interesting option for FC Twente. However, it seems that PSV and Feyenoord are throwing a spanner in the works and disrupting FC Twente’s transfer plans.

PSV recently made an offer of two million euros for Driouech, but that turned out not to be nearly enough: it was a bit of a shock for the Eindhoven team when Excelsior announced that it wanted five million euros for Driouech. However, PSV would like to take over the Moroccan attacker and has increased the offer to more than three million euros, it is reported The Telegraph. In addition, Feyenoord has also shown interest, although no concrete steps have yet been taken.

FC Twente only has one real left winger in the selection: Naci Ünüvar. After this season he will return to Ajax following a rental period. If FC Twente does not rent him once more or take him over permanently, they will have to look for at least one new left winger. Driouech seemed an interesting option, but now seems no longer feasible given the fierce competition.

Update: Driouech is definitely no longer feasible for FC Twente. PSV and Excelsior have found each other for a transfer fee of reportedly 4.2 million euros, reports Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad. An unprecedented amount for Excelsior, which shattered the outgoing transfer record. Previously, Thijs Dallinga, who went to Toulouse FC for 2.5 million euros in mid-2022, was the most expensive player that Excelsior ever sold.
