【Update at 10:00】An off-duty policeman was arrested for allegedly abusing a woman due to discipline issues. The case was brought up in Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court today (6th).

The off-duty police officer has been suspended, the police reiterated that they attach importance to personnel integrity

The police said that they received a report on October 21 last year that a 38-year-old off-duty police officer surnamed Luo had been in a unit in Tsing Yi earlier, suspected of punishing his 7-year-old daughter for discipline problems.

After a preliminary investigation by the New Territories South Regional Crime Squad, the policeman was arrested on suspicion of “abuse or neglect of children or juveniles in his custody” the day following receiving the report. He has been charged with one count of “abuse or neglect of a child or young person in his care”.

The police pointed out that the off-duty policeman involved in the incident has been suspended, and reiterated that the police force attaches great importance to the conduct of personnel, and the police force will never tolerate and appease any personnel who commit illegal acts, and will definitely deal with them severely.
