Twelve projects have recently been launched or will start shortly on the main roads in Wallonia, announced Thursday the manager of the structuring network, Sofico, on the eve of the start of the school year.
The end of the holidays also means that of several large construction sites, the holidays having been used to carry out phases of work with a strong impact on traffic. This is why seven projects have just been completed or are regarding to be. In addition, 13 projects already started before the school holidays are continuing.
But 12 new projects are also emerging, recently launched or regarding to be.
Thus, on the R3 to the north-east of Charleroi, on 1 September the repair of the surfacings at the height of the Heppignies interchange will begin. The ramps and accesses will be closed in turn until the end of October.
The E25/A26 motorway is seeing the opening of two new construction sites. From this Monday, several works near Houffalize will modify the traffic conditions in the direction of Liège, only. And until September 30, on interchange 51 to the Houffalize viaduct, one lane will be withdrawn from traffic.
The other project on this motorway involves repairing the retaining wall of the bridge overhanging the motorway near Longlier. One lane will be closed to traffic for three weeks.
Chaussée de Tongres-Rocourt (N20) will undergo a redevelopment of its intersection formed with Place Reine Astrid and Rue d’Ans, between September 4 and the end of October. In Hautrage, the crossroads formed by the N50 with the 547 will be transformed into a roundregarding.
A dynamic map of all these sites and others can be viewed at www.sofico.org. “Their organization ensures maximum mobility for users; they are necessary to continue to offer a network combining security, comfort and fluidity, ”recalls the network manager, in a press release.
