Hi Sabine! We are indeed going to experience a real heat stroke over the next few days which will contrast radically with the current conditions! This good weather will be caused by an anticyclonic blockage located between the North Sea and Scandinavia, accompanied by a mass of air of subtropical origin. The improvement will begin on Saturday with thinnings which will break through in the early followingnoon. Beautiful day with a veiled sky to be expected this Sunday. This will continue next week with 25 to 26°C on Monday and a peak between Tuesday and Thursday with strong sunshine and 27 to 28°C (or even 29°C locally). Despite this, a heat wave seems unlikely, unless surprised. As a reminder, we speak of a heat wave when the maxima in Uccle reach at least 25°C for at least 5 consecutive days with a minimum of 3 days when the temperature exceeds 30°C.
Saturday’s weather report
In the morning, rather widespread low clouds, even fog, will be present especially over Flanders as far as Hainaut and Brabants, while the south will quickly see the sun. Then, the shining star will progress towards the other regions and also the sea and it will be quite sunny. In the followingnoon, cumulus clouds will sprout especially on the relief but will be rather scattered elsewhere even if sometimes a little more numerous. This will not alter the feeling of good weather with even a fairly blue sky at sea and above all a rising mercury. We will find 21°C at the sea and on the summits, 23°C in Namur, 24°C in Brussels and locally 25-26°C along the French border. All this under a discreet wind of variable direction. In the evening, nothing to report except a few veils of cirrus clouds.
