AlphaTauri F1 boss Franz Tost said he “understands” how fast his team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was on soft tires in the second free practice, but he is happy to have the experienced Australian Daniel Ricciardo on board.
“He drove the best car (Red Bull) last week. I told him he should never have left. This is his team and his home.”
So Tost has not put a lid on speculation that Red Bull may be considering Ricciardo as a final replacement for struggling Sergio Perez.
“If a driver goes from AlphaTauri to Red Bull, it’s 100% OK for us,” smiled Tost.
“Personally, I’d rather that than another driver move, because that’s what we’re here for.”
