Apple Festival

The Annual Apple Festival takes place at Nichols Ranch, 236 Cottonwood Canyon. There will be more than 85 arts and crafts vendors, a petting zoo, live music, more than 20 food vendors, wine and beer. Fall fiber arts programming

Throughout the month of October, Bosque Redondo Memorial/Fort Sumner Historic Site, 3647 Billy the Kid Road, is hosting ongoing fiber arts programming featuring New Mexico spinner and weaver, Margaret Martinez-Blea. The Memorial is home to an average of 30 Churro Sheep and sometimes upwards of 50 during lambing season. Each fall, Site staff, with the help of professionals, process wool fleeces to prepare it for use for weaving classes or for interpretive purposes. During this time, visitors will have a chance to observe the process that the site wool undergoes to become a useable textile. Demonstrations will include skirting, cleaning, carding, spinning and weaving. Demonstrations can be observed in the Memorial Resource Room and is included in general admission. Battle of the Food Trucks

The second annual Battle of the Food Trucks takes place at Washington Park, 100 Washington Ave., from noon to 5 p.m. There will be beer tents, a cornhole tournament, DJ music and vendors. The contest includes Best Food Truck 2023, Best Dessert Truck 2023 and Best Beverage Truck 2023. “The Capture and Death of Billy the Kid”

Lincoln Historical Site is hosting Herb Marsh presentation “The Capture and Death of Billy the Kid.” Historian Marsh will talk regarding what Billy and his friends were doing following the Lincoln County War. Celebrate autumn in Ruidoso at AspenFest. Ocotillo Comedy Troupe presents “The Edgar Allen Poe Afterlife Show” at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, 310 W. Main St. When Poe sets out to keep his stories alive from beyond the grave, an otherworldly radio studio proves just the thing to be for his best and creepiest stories. The Museum of Space of Space History invites the public to its free event, the Great Southwest Star Party and eclipse viewing. This year’s event will feature viewing of the annular eclipse, speakers, workshops, the grand opening of the new observatory complex and the evening Star Party at the New Mexico Museum of Space History, 3198 State Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Come join us for a day of observing, learning and camaraderie.
