Upcoming Assassin’s Creed games may well be set in Baghdad and Japan

This is the question we like to ask ourselves: where will take place the next Assassin’s Creed ? After all, history is full of places and events that could serve as fertile ground for genetic memory ; recently, we have been treated to ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and the Middle Ages of the Vikings.

Ubisoft has not officially communicated on the next installment in the saga, but a little anyway. A year ago, the French publisher unveiled Assassin’s Creed Infinitystakes en live service ; we’ll get to that later, but basically it represents the next evolution of this legendary franchise. Origins has already brought un breath of fresh air to the Animus experience by introducing a strong RPG component, and breathtaking locations. Unfortunately, Valhalla did not entirely follow since the medieval England created by Ubisoft was above all… vide.

OK, but who of the next opus? Three sources diverge, one of which comes from Jason Schreier ; the famous journalist, renowned for the quality of his leaks, indicated that the next Assassin’s Creed would be titled Riftand would take place at Baghdad. It should be announced next September, during the big Ubisoft conference, and would have as its protagonist Basim. Rift is therefore, we insist on it, the next installment in the saga.

Because he remains the aptly named Assassin’s Creed Infinitywhich is supposed to be the ultimate Animus experience, in game if not in real life. As a “live service game”, this game will be continuously updated with content to attract and keep players. for years ; this new vein in the video game industry has been growing enormously in recent years, because it is extremely profitable.

Also planned in showcase for the month of September, Infinity does not have a clearly defined form, but it is quite possible that this game consists many adventures more or less important at different times, in different places. Jeff Grubbalso renowned for its reliable leaks, indicated that Infinity would take us to Japan. You can find out more details about it in the video below:

Asia has long been a fan fantasy, as its landscapes and varied cultures lend themselves perfectly to the style ofAssassin’s Creed. In 2020an artist from Ubisoft Montreal published concept art inspired by Asia, reinforcing this theory; whatever she was the veracity of this information more or less voluntary, it is therefore to be expected that Infinity takes us to Japan.

And recently there was the rumor that the next game Assassin’s Creed would involve the Aztecs ; Jason Schreier denied this rumor, indicating that all his sources point to Baghdad. It appears that one of our own sources told us confirmed that a project on the Aztecs was well under development at Ubisoft, but that it would not be deployed on the market immediately; we can therefore theorize that the Aztecs and Japan will be modules accessible on Infinityprobably not before the second half of 2023.

In any case, we will know much more next September, with the official announcements from the French publisher. So let’s hope that Ubisoft’s great showcase lives up to our expectations, and allows us to revitalize a little license Assassin’s Creed !
