As at the end of each summer, Apple is in the starting blocks, hasty to present the new version of its flagship, the iPhone.
Except that for this 2022 edition, the Cupertino company is a tad ahead of its usual schedule. The rumoris indeed confirmed by Apple: the presentation keynote of the iPhone 14 (and the Apple Watch Series 8, available for the first time in Pro version) will take place this Wednesday, September 7, before a commercial release of the new range of smartphones started on September 16, i.e. 9 days later. Never before had Apple brought an iPhone to market so early in the year.
The range, still highly anticipated, of the iPhone version 2022 should revolve around four products: the usual iPhone 14, 14 Pro and Pro Max, but also a novelty, namely the iPhone 14 Max. On the other hand, it is more than likely that Cupertino will not repeat the iPhone Mini experience, disappointed with the commercial results generated by this reduced version.
A reduced notch, a new A16 chip and the Always-On Display… but only on the Pro range
In terms of expected novelties, let’s mention the disappearance (reduction, rather) of the huge notch (the famous “notch”) located at the top of the screen, but only on the Pro and Pro Max iterations. This is one of the other turning points taken by Apple in its 2022 smartphone collection: the most opulent models will be particularly pampered, while the more accessible versions (iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max) will carry few new features, exception of a new selfie camera.
The new in-house A16 Bionic chip, for example, will only be featured on the Pro models. It should be the same for the induction of the functionality “Always-On Display” (screen always on, with a very low refresh rate to save battery), commonplace among many Android competitors.
These reasons push Apple to bet big on the busiest of its iPhone 14 in terms of sales forecasts: it is the iPhone 14 Pro Max, whose screen shipments reach 28% of the range according to analyst Ross Young , which raises the highest hopes of the Apple. A model whose prices should soar: in its most premium version, with 1 TB of storage, it is not excluded to see the iPhone 14 Pro Max priced at nearly 2000 €, a price never seen on a Apple mobile.
Which, purchasing power crisis or not, does not prevent Apple from planning to shoot down its own records once once more…
