It will be up to 43 degrees hot in Spain today: A heat wave is sweeping south-west Europe. Forecasts show that the heat might soon reach Switzerland.
Hot air from North Africa brought Spain the first major heat wave of the year. The Aemet weather service announced that it would be particularly hot in the middle and south-west of the country. Up to 43 degrees Celsius can be expected in Seville, Cordoba and Badajoz. This is well above the average temperatures for early June.
In the capital Madrid it might be 38 degrees and in Barcelona 32 degrees. The heat wave should last at least until Wednesday, according to Aemet.
According to forecasts, it will be over 35 degrees next Saturday
In Switzerland, the weather is not that summery: Meteonews expects temperatures between 28 and 31 degrees in the followingnoon.
But will the Spanish heat wave soon reach Switzerland? If you believe the forecasts of the European weather model ECMWF, it might be around 35 degrees next Saturday. However, it is uncertain whether this forecast will actually come true, writes Meteonews on Twitter.
After the American weather model GFS had already measured over 35 degrees on Saturday, the European weather model ECMWF also followed suit (graphics from Zurich Airport). As #hot it will actually be and how long it will be hot is still unclear. (RP) pic.twitter.com/HmoavzpyO6
