The first appearance of Porsche-Zagato de Storez took place in the Reims stage of the Tour de France Automobile in September 1958. It is believed that in that race he finished second behind the Ferrari 250 GT TdF by Olivier Gendebien. Unfortunately, Storez would lose his life in an accident in France in February 1959 and the car would be lost forever when the wreckage was removed from the track. It has never been seen since.

Some years ago, an American collector asked Zagato if he might recreating the 356 Speedster by Claude Storez, to which the coachbuilder accepted. The resulting vehicle was presented on the occasion of the Porsche 60th Anniversary as a manufacturer. Andrea Zagato confirmed that nine copies of the Speedster would be built, even if demand was higher. Some time later, another nine units of the Porsche-Zagato Coupé would be announced.
