Did Alfonso Ugarte jump off the hill?
The official narrative tells us that he takes a Peruvian flag and throws himself off the nose and falls off a cliff. And it is what we have all grown up with and indeed there are witnesses who say that they have seen the skeleton of a destroyed horse whitening in the sun at the foot of the nose, but there are also testimonies from Chilean officers who mention that, following the battle was over and Bolognesi and More, they find the corpse of Alfonso Ugarte in a shack hidden by some women, the so-called rabonas.
