On average, more than one train in ten is delayed by more than 5 minutes and 59 seconds. Only 88.3% of trains do not have such a delay, without us ever knowing, within 5 minutes, how many actually start at the time indicated on the timetable. Ironically, statistics also show that the punctuality of SNCB trains improves when there are fewer people on board… In July and August, punctuality increased to 91%, thus confirming a trend already noted during the covid period. . In addition to this punctuality, monthly train cancellations (they are so late or unavailable that they are canceled) vary between 2,500 and 4,700, which corresponds to 3% to 5% of traffic. “It’s as if one day a month, there was no train at all,” summarizes a union official.
