Gamers love to make fun of low-res textures and models in video games. One of the most iconic recent examples is Halo Infinite’s infamous Craig the Brute, but another iconic example that spiraled into a massive meme was Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, as the expansion saw the game bring Low poly grapes for fans to gawk at. It might seem like a small thing, but it resulted in a ton of memes and jokes across the internet, all before Square Enix had a chance to release a patch that addressed the texture of the grapes. Why is it so big? Simply because in the game, they don’t look like grapes at all, but like blue cones attached to vines. But what’s familiar to Square is that fans took a liking to these low-poly grapes and decided to immortalize them as physical merchandise. Those attending the Final Fantasy Fan Festival 2023 in Las Vegas will go home with a bunch of different loot, including a bag, a pen, badges, keychains and a squeezeable toy that resembles a grape. Specifically, the grape’s description reads: “After hours of ‘farm parties,’ relieve any lingering stress with these truly remarkable Endwalker grapes. If you’re feeling a little low on resolution, just grab your soft Grapes, remember the old days. As for when the Fan Festival will take place, the event is scheduled for July 28-29.
