Apple has taken the wraps off the latest version of the iPhone. The real big bang for the American company is already in the artificial intelligence functions, and all signs point to a shift in focus in this direction instead of hardware and camera developments.
As expected, Apple took the wraps off the new iPhone models shortly before the start of the year-end harvest, i.e. Black Friday and Christmas season. The announcement was met with enormous interest, which is no wonder, since the company is still brutally strong in the telephone sector. In addition, used and refurbished devices are also very popular, and more importantly, the brand is still amazingly strong. The Apple iPhone is still considered cool – despite the fact that the Cupertino concern hasn’t come up with a truly great innovation for years.

- iPhone 16 Pro Max: It has the same capabilities as the iPhone 16 Pro, but its display is significantly larger, 6.9 inches. With this, Apple put a real monster on the table.

All of this means that Apple did not bring back the Mini line, which is loved by many, but did not perform very well in stores. Which we can only regret, since an ultra-compact, high-tech phone would indeed have a place on the market next to batteries.
Design: The revolution missed
Apple phones have looked the same for years, and the iPhone 16 family hasn’t brought any major changes in this regard either. The markedly rounded corners and the camera island packed into the upper left corner of the back cover remained.
Basically, there is no problem with this, since the exterior is characterful and harmonious, only today it has become a bit boring.

All 2024 mobiles were equipped with the programmable button introduced in last year’s top model, which can be assigned various functions. They also got a completely new touch-sensitive panel, which is used to immediately start movie recording and change video settings. This could be really good news for Instagram, YouTube and TikTok samurais.

The leading trend of 2024 on the smartphone front is the rise of artificial intelligence. After the big rival Samsung and Google, which is considered to be up and coming in this field, made a big splash, there was plenty in the deck that Apple would come up with something similar.

Well, the American company did not disappoint, as AI-based services played a central role in the series of grandiose announcements.
All signs indicate that instead of hardware and camera developments, the focus is shifted in this direction. Whether this is good or not is debatable, but it is a fact that even around Apple, they believe that this is the way to capture the general public open to new things.
And it is a fact that, thanks to this, new iPhones are enriched with functions that can clearly distinguish them from older models. By doing so, they can make themselves more attractive to customers as well.
Perhaps the most notable new AI features are related to imaging:

In other words, you can no longer communicate with him only with sabbatical command words, but also with live speech. So you can use round sentences and you don’t have a problem with grammatical errors or slang. By definition, this can make searching or using various functions more comfortable.
In addition, AI also makes it possible to the phone rewords our emails or messages with a single touch into different styles. For those who (also) use their mobile phone for work, this can be a serious help. As well as the fact that the phones will now be able to use letters, documents, and even the material of meetings recorded with a voice recorder prepare a short, transparent extract.

The company is very proud of the technology called Visual Intelligence. The essence of this is that if you take a photo or videotape something, the product can search for objects, locations or even people based on that. After that, it already shows the related information. For example, where you can buy a particular piece of clothing, or what kind of car you see in the picture. This sounds good, but there is no question of novelty in the latter case, since similar services have already been found in previously presented models of rivals.
Will the Apple iPhone 16 family save the world?
The answer to this question is a clear NO, at least based on our current information. At the same time, the fact is that the company adapts to the prevailing trends and remains at the forefront with its phones and related services.
This may hurt some people, but the iPhone has not been about extreme innovation for a long time.
Apple does not want to show something radically new, it just wants to satisfy the needs of its huge, dedicated base, and the new models seem suitable for this.

Its display is larger than before, and its operating time has also increased – at least on paper. But even so, the company cannot be particularly proud of the 18 hours of screen time.

The device housing is thinner, the brightness of the display is 40 percent higher, so the colors are more vivid even on a hot day. It also got a better speaker and microphone, and various activity and health-related features were improved. In theory, AI has also arrived here, thanks to which measurements and received data are more accurate, but to be completely honest, we cannot talk about any radical innovation in the case of this peripheral either.
The starting price of the Apple Watch Series 10 in Hungary is HUF 189,990, and the Watch Ultra 2 is HUF 379,990.
Headphones
They announced the new generation of their wireless earphones. This is the AirPods 4, the big plus of which, at least according to the manufacturer, is that it can create virtual surround sound with the help of artificial intelligence.
At the same time, this does not count as a technological innovation at all, since many people have already promised something like this. It’s true, in reality it hasn’t worked very well so far, and we suspect that it won’t work for the Apple product either. Such a small product with only two built-in speakers is simply not suitable for this.

In addition, the product constantly monitors the audio signals coming into the ear and the noises of the outside world, and automatically adjusts the individual settings accordingly, so that the amount of disturbing noise is as low as possible. But we have also encountered this before with other manufacturers, so there is no question of an evolutionary leap here. However, a unique but rather annoying-looking function has arrived.
The device is able to turn down the music if it detects a human voice, i.e. if it thinks that someone is talking to the user.
And this will obviously be cruelly disturbing, for example on the bus, where people joke next to us. But there is a good chance that this wonderful service can be turned off, since without it the device would be practically unusable.

The AirPods 4 won’t be cheap either, as the basic version costs HUF 60,000, and the version with active noise filtering costs HUF 85,000. The updated AirPods Max will cost HUF 239,990 in Hungary.
All things considered, we can say that the company moves in the same way in terms of security in the field of watches and earphones as it does in the case of telephones.
