Researchers in Japan have confirmed the presence of microplastics in Tokyo clouds. The study was published in the journal Environmental Chemistry Letters. However, how these affect climate is not fully understood. Microplastics are plastic particles less than five millimeters in size that come from industrial wastewater, textiles, synthetic car tires, personal care products, and other sources. The research was led by Hiroshi Okochi of Waseda University. The study collected fog water from Mt.Fuji and Oyama. The team found nine different types of polymers and one type of rubber in the microplastics in the cloud, ranging in size from 7.1 to 94.6 micrometers. Read on deshabhimani.com
