A year and a half ago, Jean-Marc Turine released a book, “Révérends Pères”, in which he recounts these terrible years. It took him three years to produce this text. “It’s important but it doesn’t relieve anything. It became a kind of fight. I also wrote it for those who have suffered something and who do not have the capacity to say it, who do not have the strength at a moment to say it”.
After the publication of his book, Jean-Marc Turine received testimonies from adults who were educated in Catholic colleges in Charleroi and Liège, but also from a person who now lives in Canada. “I think it helped free their speech. All these people were massacred like me”.
Jean-Marc Turine also received a reaction from the Jesuit community: “She recognized the faults committed by certain priests”. A letter was also sent to the alumni community of Collège Saint-Michel. “In this letter, the provincial (editor’s note: the director) invited former teachers and students to pay attention to my book and to testify to what they had seen or experienced at the College”.
Jean-Marc Turine also sent his book to the bishops of Belgium and the Pope. He received no response.
