It’s all laid out on top of the narrative, with players tasked with making decisions that impact the story and even the world in which the town is located. You can send explorers into the wilds to find additional resources or even find other settlements, which you can control and increase your influence at the cost of having more systems and people to manage them. The world is meant to be explored and documented, and you need to do so if you want to continue expanding and developing your city. To ensure you get the most out of the environment and the buildings you create, Core Engage has designed New Cycle with a variety of analytics and information systems that show where resources are located around the world and how effective your buildings are before the foundations are actually laid. . These systems also keep track of how happy your residents are, as they become less influential and responsive, have lower morals, and may even start to rebel if their morals get too low. But thankfully, this is where beer comes back into the equation, because there’s no better way to cheer up a post-apocalyptic survivor than an ice-cold beer. There’s no time frame on how long the game will remain an EA project, but Core Engage did tell me that more advanced production levels will be added as EA progresses, as well as other features and builds before the eventual 1.0 release.
